Sir Alistair & Lady Graham - Belford
What a delightful experience this was! Working with the "Lady" of the house to create a perfect study / library for her very busy husband.
Their home is the east wing of a beautiful and important country house. Good Yorkshire people with a sharp sense of duty and values, Sir Alistair is a voracious reader and music lover, whose needs were carefully considered when preparing a design for the room. Library bookcases, a large and practical desk area, enclosed radiators and plentiful storage for CD discs and DVD cassettes were necessary.
Surprisingly, we were guided towards a light and modern style of furniture within this 18th century traditional home and the design works very successfully.
The main feature is a long sweeping desk with a curved front that replaced a large Georgian desk which was despatched to another of the gracious rooms.
